Introduction to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

CSR refers to the way in which organizations regulate their practices to ensure that all of their activities positively affect society as a whole. CSR policies aim to guarantee that organizations work ethically, considering human rights as well as the social, economic and environmental impacts of what they do as a business. Businesses should meet, and aim to exceed any relevant legislation, and if legislation does not exist in a particular area, the company should ensure they carry out best practices anyway.

Who we are and what we do

Lancashire Forensic Science Academy is the first collaboration of its kind to be based within a constabulary headquarters. The combination of police forensic expertise and academic excellence within purpose-built facilities is designed to create an optimum environment to meet the professional development and training needs of future learners. With a vast portfolio of CPD courses specifically designed to answer the needs and requirements of professionals of “now” and of “future”, ground-breaking research and scientific support capabilities and focus on providing an incomparable experience for students, researchers and scientists, the LFSA is heading towards the only optimal direction: growth.

 

Looking after Employees

To retain loyal and productive staff, it is vital to maintain a good working environment. In this section, you could refer to any of the following:

· LFSA treats seriously and respectfully legislations that provide equal opportunities and access to employment and education and with the highest respect we obey with concepts related to the Human Rights Act 2010, and the Modern Slavery Act 2015 that our initiative restricts the standards through our annual statement that is carefully revised and published on the website.

 

  • LFSA liaise in line with standard health and safety policies, procedures that are periodically revised and updated if needed. 

  • Staff training, appraisals and personal development procedures are in place to ensure continuous improvement is given the highest attention.

  • The communication between the LFSA and the staff is taking place regularly through internal meetings and provides a platform to openly discuss any work related matters.

  • Pay and benefits. The LFSA staff are paid correctly and on time, and wages meet the National Minimum/ Living Wage, employees get a good pension, and there are other benefits (e.g. healthcare or dental plans, company car or phone) available for individuals whose work require such additions.

  • HR capability is available at parents’ organizations.

 

 

Looking after Customers

It is so important to look after the customers, to make sure that they have a positive and lasting impression of the business. Our active approach includes

 

  • Assessment of customer satisfaction and retention.

  • Assessment of safety and quality of products and services.

  • Assessment of communication standards with customers.

 

 

Protecting the Environment

It is important to commit to reducing the environmental impact that LFSA activities may have. 

 

  • LFSA is committed to and monitors waste reduction, reuse and recycling.

  • LFSA is committed to monitors and reduce water usage or implement any water-saving measures.

  • LFSA is committed to replacing standard types of materials used within the business with their recyclable equivalents.

Encouraging staff to walk, car share or use public transport to get to work if possible.

Encouraging staff to use greener fuels in their personal vehicles if possible.

 

Community Engagement

As a business, LFSA is committed to supporting local communities and is currently reviewed projects there are plans to work closely with local charities, sport clubs, societies, community centres either by sponsorships, volunteering days or considering opening potential employment opportunities for local people. 

 

Measurement

LFSA pays high attention to monitoring and constantly improving its CSR activities and practices, therefore it is planned to periodically review and update all measures and recording practices of any achievements accomplished as a result.

The Academy is on the mission to cultivate the importance of sustainability amongst our staff, customers, partners, students and to achieve this there are some ambitious plans such as waste reduction, green energy, reduce-paper print policies and more.
