Introduction to Practical Fire Investigation

Lancashire Forensic Science Academy is pleased to offer a 3-day course in Practical Fire Investigation. This exciting course offers delegates a chance to discover the principles of forensic fire science through both theory and practical applications. It is held at Lancashire’s Fire and Rescue Training Centre as well as new fire scene facilities at University of Central Lancashire.


The course will be delivered by Stephen Andrews BSc MSc, Fire and Explosive Scientist, in conjunction with a Crime Scene Manager from Lancashire Constabulary. Stephen Andrews has been involved in more than 1,000 cases including high profile murders, attempted murders, arson with intent, industrial fires and explosions. The course will bring together Stephen’s 30-year expertise with that of a Lancashire Constabulary Crime Scene Manager with over a decade of experience. The course includes a day focused on the role of a CSI in the investigation and examination of a fire scene.

This 3-day course will include:

· Scientific principles on fire behavior & practical demonstrations

· Vehicle excavations

· Fire scene evidence recovery practical & CSI input
