Our Story .

The LFSA has been based in Lancashire, at the Lancashire Constabulary HQ at Hutton since 2019.

Launched as a result of a collaborative agreement between academia and policing, and combines research excellence rooted in academic foundations and practical quality that allows next generations of forensic scientists and practitioners to prepare for employment and success in their chosen field.

A suite of state-of-the-art research laboratories facilitate training, education and research across forensic disciplines such as footwear examination, fingerprints, drugs analysis and digital forensics. The facility is equipped with modern crime scene houses and vehicles for crime scene investigation simulation training, workshops and other research projects.

Access to the professional expertise of crime scene investigators and forensic science experts provides UCLan students with invaluable experience of what being employed in these roles entails on a daily basis. 

This collaboration allows easier access to crime scene investigators, forensic scientists and experts who support Lancashire Constabulary.
