Sophie Ponsonby,

Sophie is the administrator at the Lancashire Forensic Science Academy (LFSA). She is a recent 1st class graduate in Forensic Science and Criminal Investigation from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Sophie joined the LFSA in May 2022 after spending 3 years interacting with us throughout university. She attended a fingerprint workshop at the LFSA in 2020 which further developed her fingerprinting skills. As part of Sophie’s undergraduate dissertation evaluating mental health support for Crime Scene Investigators, she worked with Professor Anna Williams (manager of the LFSA) to create an eye-opening piece of research. As a recent student, Sophie is passionate about the student experience at the LFSA and hopes to develop new opportunities for students.

Sophie is working towards her career goal of being a Crime Scene Investigator. She has a particular interest in Fingerprints and Blood Pattern Analysis. Sophie aims to return to UCLan, after gaining valuable years of experience, to teach the next generation of forensic investigators. Sophie prides herself in her organisation, customer service and IT skills. Outside of work, Sophie enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
